Nice to Meet you :)

I thought I would begin my first blog post EVER by letting you know a little bit about myself. I'm Kara :) I'm a 29 year old with a crazy bubbly personality. I love to be happy (and refuse not to be) so I tend to surround myself with positive people and things. I take the bad negative things with a grain of salt and believe that it only makes me a stronger better person. I am an accountant by day, and small business owner by night and weekends. I have a love for cooking (sometimes dancing around the kitchen doing it at the same time), my family, reading and fitness. I moved in with my boyfriend, Justin about 3 years ago and immediately feel in love with decorating our new home. Hand creating personal details to truly make it our own. That is where it allllllll started. I began this new business journey a year and a half ago when Justin gave me the dream machine which helps me create all my custom signs and personalized gifts. I really felt the sky was my limit and I wanted to share with others. In 2015 I got engaged to my soulmate and got married last July 2016. We knew we wanted to start a family right away, so my planning brain got to work. I wanted to start my own small business to help fund our family and lifestyle even when I was on maternity leave and all the extra expenses arising from a new bundle of joy. What I didn't know is how quickly this business had taken off - good thing it did because we are now EXPECTING our first baby this April 2017. Starting my own business has had its challenges but also has had many cherished rewards. It was a learning curve that I enjoyed taking on. From making social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter, to making business cards, starting my online Etsy Shop (https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/ScaleAndTailor), and making my website, learning about SEO, tagging, keywords, and website building is just some of the personal growth I've gained from this experience. With over 500 online orders and 100 local orders taken on over the last 18 months, I'd say it was all well worth it. I hope in the next coming year it only gets sweeter. My goals are never ending and I look forward to expanding in so many way. Even more excited to share it with all you in this new blog series. The good the bad and the ugly. I hope you enjoyed getting to know me and how ScaleAndTailor all began :) Stay Tuned!!
