Prep Time: 20 Minutes Cook Time: 40 Minutes
Total Time: 1 Hour Serves: 6-8 . Ingredients: - Cabbage (1 small, cored) - Ground Beef (lean, 1 lb) - Sausage (mild, 2 links, skin removed) - Tomato Sauce (1 can) - Water (1 cup) - Rice (instant, 3/4 cup) - Onion (1 medium, diced) - Italian seasoning (1 Tbsp, divided) - Parsley Flakes - Garlic (3 cloves, minced) - Salt and Pepper (to taste) Directions: 1. In a medium frying pan add onions, ground beef, and sausage. Crumble as it cooks. Once fully cooked, about 10 minutes, drain excess fat. Add 1/2 cup of tomato sauce, water, stir, then add the rice. Add seasonings and simmer on medium low heat. 2. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large boiling pot, add the cored cabbage. In a large casserole dish add a little bit of the tomato sauce to cover bottom (preventing the cabbage rolls from burning. Add 1/2 Tbsp of Italian seasoning to the can of Tomato sauce, and salt and pepper.
3. After about 5 minutes of boiling the cabbage, start to remove each outer leaf with tongs and set on clean plate. Take a small scoop of the cooked meat mixture and add to the middle of a leaf of cabbage. Folding the sides of the leaf in first, then roll to make a tight roll. Add to the casserole dish. Repeat until dish is full. Place into oven and cook for 40 minutes.
