I didn't know if this bacon-wrapped chocolate bar recipe would turn out - but when it did, I was excited to share it with you all. By freezing your chocolate bar and then very low and slowly smoke them you can achieve this fun tailgating recipe. Let me show you how delicious and easy this bacon wrapped candy bar recipe really is.
HOW DID THIS RECIPE WORK?
You'd think by wrapping bacon around chocolate, it would just ooze right out. I came up with a technique where you can have you bacon and chocolate all wrapped in one. First, you need to freeze your candy bars. Then you need wrap your bacon with no gaps. By slowly rendering your bacon, you bind the bacon together, sealing it. Locking in all that amazing chocolate goodness within your candy bar.
WHAT TYPE OF CHOCOLATE BAR?
ANY TYPE!! Pick up your favorite or favorites and wrap regular sliced bacon around it. Your beloved chocolate bar brand is how you personalize this bacon wrapped candy bar recipe.
PRO TIP: Make sure you do not use thick bacon as It takes longer to render and is not suitable for this fun tailgating recipe.
Sweet and savoury always go so well. To be honest I am not much of a sweet tooth gal. This bacon wrapped chocolate bar is actually well-balanced because of the saltiness of the bacon. I choose to try Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers. I clearly love peanut butter, so even more saltiness.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
PELLET GRILL: I used my Pit Boss Grills Navigator
PELLETS: I used Competition Blend by Pit Boss Grills
RUB: I used, Sweet Heat by Pit Boss Grills
AlUMINUM PAN with GRATE
Bacon
Chocolate Bars
HERE IS HOW I MADE THIS BACON WRAPPED CHOCOLATE BAR
Two hours before, place your candy bars into your freezer. Preheat your pellet grill to 180-200 degrees (as low as your grill will allow). Once your chocolate bars are frozen, wrap bacon around you them ensuring that there are no gaps or holes. For some, you will need more than 1 slice of bacon. Next, sprinkle your bacon with a pork rub and place on a grated pan.
Smoke your bacon wrapped chocolate bar for approximately one hour or until your bacon is rendered and cooked to your likely. Remember to let them cool. The inside is very hot chocolate and I do not want you to burn yourself. Once cooled, talked a big bite and let me know how you enjoyed them.
