BLT Stuffed Mushrooms | Appetizer for BBQ | Smoked Appetizers


Mad Mushin on these BLT Stuffed Mushrooms. This year I decided to end 2020 on a healthier note instead of waiting to start in the New Year. BLT with a side of Mmmm for Mushrooms with this low carb appetizer idea.

Smoked appetizers are always the way to go when doing an appetizer for BBQ. Mushrooms are one of those vegetables that take on smoke so well. You get that velvet buttery garlic taste, then that salty smoke from the bacon, then finishes with a pop of fresh from the tomato and arugula. Making this one low carb appetizer for BBQ.


The Grilling basket is from a set of three from Yukon Glory. They have one goal, and that is to make BBQ better with their wide selection of BBQ and Griddle Supplies. Using the grilling basket made this smoked appetizer a breeze.


BLT stands for its ingredients, bacon, lettuce, tomato and we are going to throw in the letter M for this BLT stuffed mushrooms recipe. Skip the bread and make it low carb for this smoked appetizer.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Grilling Grate

Pellet Grill OR Oven (I used Louisiana Grills Black Label 1200)

Pellets (I used Pitmasters Choice Premium Pellets, Gourmet Blend)


THE GOODS

Mushrooms (stem removed, 10-15)

Butter (2 Tbsp, melted) Garlic (1 clove, minced)

Italian Seasoning (1 tsp)

Arugala (1/4 cup) Tomatoes (Cherry, 1/2 cup)

Parmesan Cheese (1/4 cup)


DIRECTIONS Preheat your SMOKER or OVEN to 400 degrees. Melt your butter, garlic, and Italian seasoning in a small container in a microwave for 20 seconds. Brush this mixture onto your mushrooms. Scooping the garlic for a perfect smoked appetizers.


Begin to stuff your BLT stuffed mushrooms. Start with the arugala, then tomatoes, and then I topped with parmesan cheese. Arrange on your Yukon Glory grill basket or any BBQ safe grill grate 1/2" apart from one another. You never want to overcrowd mushrooms while cooking.


This appetizer for BBQ is simple and quick. Smoke or Bake for 20 minutes or until your mushrooms look slightly wilted but still together. Optional: add a touch of balsamic vinegarette for an extra tang to this smoked appetizer.
