I first had a donut burger when I went to a huge carnival called The EX here in Toronto where they always have the most outrageous food. Foodies from all others come to try out the latest good trends. This year I happened to have the donut burger and fell in love.

With Halloween being one of my favourite holidays, I know I had to create these fun Monster Donut Burgers. Halloween food does not always have to be spooky, it can be fun as well. Giving your some Halloween Food Ideas this year for a fun and festive Halloween.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

KAMADO or PELLET GRILL (I used my Louisiana Grills Kamado K24)

DONUTS (I used Krispy Kreme Donuts)

INGREDIENTS

Ground Beef (medium, 1 lbs)

Sausage (mild, 2 links)

Onion (1 medium, diced finely)

Bread (1 slice)

Milk (1/2 cup)

Parmesan Cheese (1/3 cup)

Italian Seasoning (1 1/2 TBSP)

Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Worchestershire Sauce (2 TBSP)

Mustard (2 TBSP)

Garlic (3 cloves minced)

Egg (1 large)

DIRECTIONS

Preheat your BBQ to a high heat (400-500 degrees). Next lets prepare our Monster donut burgers. In a shallow dish add the bread and pour the milk over it, soaking the bread. Let it sit aside to absorb all the milk. This is called a panade.

Next, in a large bowl, add all other ingredients and mix and blend well. Then add the panade (bread and milk mixture). Using a measuring cup or by look, grab approximately 1/2 cup of burger mixture, form into a ball then press and form a burger patty. Pro Tip: I like to leave my sit for at least an hour to marinade the mixture a little bit.

Once your burgers are formed and your BBQ is preheated, grill directly over coals till your burgers are 160 degrees.

Just before your burgers are almost done, grill your donuts. They do not need much time to char and caramelize. Grill on both sides for approximately 2 minutes each side. Assemble your Monster Donut Burgers by jazzing them up with some Halloween Fun or each on its own.

BURGER TIPS:

Tip One: Use Regular Ground Beef. DO NOT use lean ground beef.

Tip Two: Don't use breadcrumbs. Instead panade some bread ie: soak the bread and milk (or milk substitute) for a few minutes. Once completely absorbed add to the meat mixture.

Tip Three: No big chunks. If adding onion or cheese make sure it's diced finely. This helps the burger not crumble while cooking.

Tip Four: Push little pockets in the middle of each patty. This helps the burger to evenly cook. Tip Five: Have fun with it. Play around with seasonings and sauces (but make sure not to over-sauce)
