Did you know that campfire day happens on the first Saturday of August every year? We are celebrating with a cozy campfire, campfire themed party, with delicious campfire cupcakes. These cupcakes were so easy to create (coming from not a very savvy baker) and I will show you step by step how to create your own campfire themed party.
THE CUPCAKES
Cook cupcakes as directed on your box (you should make 24 per box). The flavour you use does not matter; the top frosting will do all the work.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Cake Box (should make approx 24 cupcakes)
Butter (1 cup, softened)
Icing Sugar (1 bag)
Red and Yellow Food Colouring
Cream (2 Tbsp)
Pretzels (4 per cupcake)
THE ICING
In a mixture, put the butter in with the whisker, and mix on high for a minute. This will whip the butter and make it soft. Then add the icing sugar and cream. Mix until blended. Separate this white icing into 3 bowls. Then add these amounts of food colouring to each mix to get yellow, orange, and red frosting.
YELLOW: 19 drops of yellow.
ORANGE: 1 red, 19 yellow.
RED: 30 drops red.
Place each coloured icing onto a large piece of saran wrap. You will roll them all together then add them to your piping bag (please see video). I used a large star tip for the swirl effect. I swirled and piped from the outside-in using a circular motion. Place 4 pretzel sticks as logs. Simply, you have campfire cupcakes in no time.
THE CAMPFIRE
We are lucky enough to own a Pit Boss Grills Smokeless Firepit, so this is what we used for our campfire (you can find a full review on this smokeless firepit - HERE) Here in Canada, we live for our summer nights. We cherish those warm evenings and even the cooler nights where we can snuggle by the fire to keep warm. We don't like the mess it leaves behind, our stinky clothes/hair, and hard to clean up areas. This smokeless firepit solves all our problems, leaving us to thoroughly enjoy every aspect.
WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT THE PIT BOSS SMOKELESS FIREPIT?
It is pellet fueled. Meaning it leaves minimum ash dust yet is capable of huge fires.
Has an inner bucket to remove the ash dust.
You can light your fire in minutes.
Pour in the amount of pellets you want to depict the amount of time you want to sit around your fire
Create a huge fire without logs of wood and without the burrowing smoke trails.
Lightweight so you could even travel with it.
CAMPFIRE THEMED PARTY
I started this campfire theme party with a photoshoot. It was my youngest first birthday, so we did One Happy Camper to spin off this idea. We ordered the banner from Amazon as well as the little campfires to place around tables and such.
With a campfire photoshoot, campfire cupcakes for dessert, a backdrop, and an actual campfire with smores to cozy up to. It is truly so very easy to put together a camp fire themed party in a pinch.
